EZ-A pens will last for many decades with proper care.

Never apply heat to the tip. The composite material in the tip will melt and damage the tip. Do not use solvents on the wooden pen body. A slightly damp towel will remove any ink or paint residue.

To install or remove a tip place the rubber protective cap over the tip. Grasp the lower portion of the tip. Avoid grasping the top of the rubber cap as this may damage the metal tip plates . Turn the tip counter clockwise to remove the tip from the pen body.
Install a tip with the same method in clockwise rotation. Lightly tighten the tip as there is no need to over tighten the nylon threads.

The EZ-A tip was designed for use with ink, gouache and watercolor. Thick paint especially acrylic media may clog the thin opening between the metal tip plates. If thick paint is used it will have to be diluted and the tip will need to be dipped in water often to keep the metal plates clean.

The best method to clean the EZ-A tip is a dip of the stainless steel plates into a small water container with toothbrush. Follow the instructions to make your very own EZ-A          tip cleaner.

An alternative  method is hot melt glue to attach the toothbrush tie instead of a zip tie.

Besides water, Windex window cleaner or water mixed with a few drops of ammonia will keep the metal very clean after use. Place the rubber protective cap on the tip after cleaning.

If the brass sleeve on the tip ever tanrishes a very tiny amount of brass cleaner can be used. Never apply the brass cleaner to the stainless steel tip plates. If this happens gently wipe it off with a damp cotton swab or soft cloth.

If your EZ-A tip ever gets damaged from a fall on the floor a replacement tip can be purchased.
